What Is a WebRTC Leak?

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) is a browser technology that enables video calls, voice chat, and peer-to-peer file sharing without plugins. To establish direct connections between browsers, WebRTC collects all available IP addresses — including your local network IPs. Even if you are using a VPN, WebRTC can reveal your real local IP address to websites.

How to Fix It

• Use Firefox with media.peerconnection.enabled set to false
• Install the WebRTC Leak Prevent extension
• Use Brave browser (has built-in WebRTC IP handling policy)
• Use a VPN with WebRTC leak protection
